Yoga With Theresa
Monday: Chair Yoga
This is a gentle form of yoga practiced sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. The class is designed for those who would like to receive the benefits of a yoga practice but have limited mobility, health issues or are just new to yoga.
This is a community class. Donations will be accepted and go directly to support the Setauket Neighborhood House.
Tuesday: Sivananda Yoga
This is a gentle, meditative form of yoga. It is comprised of a series of warm ups and asanas based on a strong scientific foundation, developed by Swami Vishnu. It is designed to maintain the proper curvature of the spine and keep all systems of the body healthy. The entire body is stretched and toned. Pranayama is followed by asana practice, systematically aligning the charkras (energy centers). After each asana, there is a resting period to return the breath and heartbeat back to normal. Rleaxation, yoga nidra and meditation follow the physical part of the practice, leaving you feeling renewed and tranquil.
Thursday: Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow. The practice includes sun salutations, standing postures, seated poses, back strengtheners and stress reduction. Class is followed by guided relaxation and meditation.
