Located just south of the rear Victorian parlor, the dining room was a favorite spot for guests at the Inn. John Elderkin”s wife Renelcha, who was the daughter of Captain Charles Hallock of Stony Brook, was a woman of great refinement, energy and ambition, and the Inn was noted for its hospitality and fine food. Julia Elderkin inherited the Inn from her father and then her niece Augusta Elderkin ran the Inn. She married Captain Beverly Swift Tyler and when she died Captain Tyler married Edith Griffin. They ran the “Lakeside House” until 1917.
