This room was the post office and general store and bank in the 19th century. The building was supposedly brought from across the pond and attached to the 1720 building. This building dates to about 1820. After becoming a community house, the room was set with a pool table and became the game/smoker room for the gentlemen to retire to for a game, a smoke, and conversation. It functioned this way until the early 1950’s and in the 1960’s the two pool tables were donated to the Setauket and Stony Brook Fire Departments where they still reside. The short captain’s chairs and pedestal tables are all that remain of the room’s original furniture.
